Assessment of current refrigeration technologies of selected food industries and their potential improvement in current refrigeration

The aim of this subtask was to study refrigeration technologies and equipment throughout the food cold chain and to assess the potential for improvement in terms of energy consumption and temperature (D2.2.2):

Subtask 2.2.2 Assessment of potential improvement in current refrigeration technologies (Month 4-10) (LSBU, CEMA, GEIE)
Current refrigeration technologies of selected food industries will be evaluated and their potential for improvement with respect to energy savings and environmental impact will be assessed. The role of GEIE with its third parties (FEDERA, FI, FIAB, SETBIR and CCIS-CAFÉ) will be to provide industrial contacts allowing the assessment of potential improvement in current refrigeration technologies. D.2.2.2

Throughout the report options to reduce energy consumption, reduce emissions of greenhouse gasses and improve temperature control of current refrigeration processes are discussed. 'Current' refrigeration processes are defines as those that can be purchased today. Details of future refrigeration processes (i.e. those that cannot be purchased today) are available in DEL 2.2.3.
